“Mike” John Rinder (/rnder/; born 1955) is an Australian activist and former Scientologist who now lives in the United States with his wife and two children. He had previously worked as a top executive for both the Church of Scientology International (CSI) and the Sea Organization of the United Nations. Rinder was on the Board of Directors of CSI from 1982 to 2007, and he also served as Executive Director of the organization’s Office of Special Affairs, which was responsible for managing the Church’s corporate, legal, and public relations affairs on an international level during that time. Having been disillusioned with what he believed to be the increasingly dictatorial character of top management under David Miscavige, Rinder left the Church in 2007 and went on to become a self-employed Scientologist.
